I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Fried Sausage and Cabbage

Easy one pot meal that's healthy and delicious! I used Italian sausage, but you could sub in your favourite ... like say kielbasa?

375g (6) Italian sausages, sliced in 1" chunks

2 tbsps olive oil

1 small onion, chopped

1 celery stalk, chopped

3 large mushrooms, chopped

3 cups coleslaw mix (or shredded cabbage and carrot)

28 oz can diced tomatoes

1 tsp chili powder

1/8 - 1/4 tsp black pepper

fresh parsley

Add 1 tbsp olive oil to a large skillet. Heat up and add the sliced sausages, cooking for 5-6 minutes to almost fully cook. Remove to a plate.

In the same skillet add 1 tbsp olive oil and cook the onion, cabbage, celery and mushrooms 3-4 minutes on medium heat.

Add the tomatoes to deglaze the pan, scaping up any brown bits stuck on the bottom.

Add the seasoning and return the sausage to the skillet. Cover and cook on medium low for about 10 minutes. Then uncover and cook to reduce liquid if you like. Or serve as is with a nice piece of crusty for dipping!

Add some fresh parsley and serve.

Serves 3-4
