I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Double Tomato Pasta Sauce

Fresh cherry tomatoes add a flavour hit to this simple tomato sauce.

Ingredients:

2 tbsps olive oil

1 small onion, diced

1 tsp minced garlic

1/4 cup red wine

1 cup canned diced tomatoes

1 cup cherry tomatoes

2 tsps dried basil

1/4 tsp sugar

1/4 tsp dried oregano

1/4 tsp salt

pinch black pepper

1/2 cup 10% cream

1 tbsp butter

fresh basil

Heat olive oil in a saucepan and lightly brown onion, then add garlic for 1 minute. Add the red wine to de-glaze the pan and add the canned tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then simmer about 10 minutes uncovered.

Add the cherry tomatoes and cook another 4 minutes.
Remove from heat and add the butter and cream.
Stir well and return to low heat to heat through, simmering about 5 minutes.
Serve over your favourite pasta garnished with fresh basil.
This was on store-bought chicken and prosciutto cannelloni!
Serves 4
