I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Basic Beef and Veggie Stir-Fry

This classic and healthy stir fry uses a quick marinade for the beef and the choice of vegetables is only limited by your imagination (or what's left in your fridge!)
Ingredients:
2 tbsps balsamic vinegar
2 tbsps vegetable oil
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 sirloin steaks, cut in thirds or strips
1 onion, sliced
1 sweet pepper, sliced
1/2 cup veg or beef broth
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsps minced garlic
1 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp oregano
1  1/2 cups broccoli florets and stems
5 mushrooms, quartered
fresh parsley

Mix the balsamic vinegar, 2 tbsps vegetable oil and worcestershire sauce together along with the steak and marinate 20 minutes. While the meat marinates you can cut up the vegetables. After 20 minutes discard the marinade, salt and pepper the meat then lightly brown in oil on both sides. Remove to a plate. To the same pan add the onion, sweet pepper and mushroom. Cook on medium heat about 4 minutes then add the garlic for 1 minute.
Add the broccoli, broth, tomato paste and oregano.
Return the meat to the pan, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
Serve with fresh parsley.
Serves 3-4
