I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Red Potatoes

Just 4 or 5 hours in the slow cooker, hardly any hands on work required, and you've got succulent chicken drumsticks and roasted potatoes ready for dinner.

Ingredients:

9 chicken drumsticks

1/2 tsp basil

1/2 tsp oregano

1/4 tsp rosemary

1/2 tsp thyme + more for the potatoes

salt and pepper to taste

2 tbsps butter

1 1/2 lbs red potatoes, quartered

2 tbsps olive oil

3 tsps minced garlic

parmesan and fresh basil to serve

Season the drumsticks with basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, salt and pepper. Heat butter to medium in a skillet and brown the chicken 2-3 minutes per side. Add the potatoes to the slow cooker. Toss with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper and thyme. Layer the chicken and accumulated juices from the pan on top. Cover and cook on low 4-5 hours. Internal temperature should read  165°F. Garnish with fresh basil and serve with parmesan. Serves 4
