I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Sweet Acorn Squash

Use some simple flavourings to bring out the best in this milder cousin of the pumpkin.
Ingredients:
1 small acorn squash (about 1 lb)
1 tsp minced garlic
2 tbsps brown sugar
2 tsps balsamic vinegar
1 tsp lime juice
1/4 cup olive oil
salt and pepper (optional)

I used a small squash because I find the bigger ones are harder to cut. Start by cutting it in half and scooping out the seeds.
Then slice it in 1/4" rounds.
Combine all the ingredients in a bag and toss with the squash. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and spoon any remaining mixture on top of each slice.
Bake at 400°F for 25-30 minutes or until tender and nicely caramelized. Ready to serve and eat the peel too! It's packed with nutrients and antioxidants!
