It only takes a few minutes to turn plain old sandwich steaks into something a little bit special.
7 thin inside round sandwich steaks
1 carrot
1 small onion
1/2 small zucchini
dijon mustard
steak spice
balsamic vinegar
1 tsp butter
2 tbsps chopped onions
1/4 cup steak sauce
1 tsp balsamic vinegar
2 tsps brown sugar
olive oil
Julienne the carrot and onion. Place the strips in a bowl with a little water and microwave for 2 minutes. Drain.
Also julienne the zucchini but this doesn't need any pre-cooking.
Lay the steaks out on your work surface. Drop a couple of dabs of dijon on each steak and spread it out.
Sprinkle with steak spice(I used Joe Beef. Montreal Steak Spice would be great as well) Divide the veggies equally, then roll-up.
Secure with a toothpick.
Drizzle the rolls with balsamic vinegar and more steak spice (because I really like steak spice!)
Let marinate 30 minutes.
In the meantime prepare the sauce.
Melt 1 tsp of butter in a small pan. Add the chopped onion and fry until browned.
Add the steak sauce (my choice was Diane Steak Sauce), balsamic and brown sugar. Heat on medium until thickened and you can draw a line in it with a spoon like this
Take a large frying pan, add some olive oil and on medium high heat cook the rolls just 1 minute per side.
Top with warm sauce and enjoy.
Mom's are always running, am I right? And when you hit menopause, you're running hot and cold! So welcome to Hot and Cold Running Mom...where you'll find mostly easy recipes (because who has time for complicated ones!), helpful household hints and a few crafts. Note: NOT just for Menopausal Moms!
I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!
