I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Simmered Swiss Steak

With the tenderizing process of "Swissing" turn a somewhat tough cut of meat like round steak into a deliciously tender meal.
Ingredients:
1 lb round steak, sliced in strips across the grain
1 tbsp vegetable oil
salt and pepper to taste
2 cups diced canned tomatoes
1 onion, sliced
1 sweet pepper, sliced
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
2 tbsps worcestershire sauce

2 tsps cornstarch
1 tbsp cold water

Heat the oil in a skillet, season the meat with salt and pepper then brown on all sides. Add the remaining ingredients (except cornstarch and water), cover and simmer 1 1/2 - 2 hours.
Once cooked mix the cornstarch and water together, pour into the center of the skillet and quickly stir together. Cook another 1-2 minutes to slightly thicken.
Served here over both white and sweet potato mash. So tender you could cut the meat with a fork!
