I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Fresh Pear Crumble

Juicy pears mixed with warm spices and topped with crispy crumble. Just a comfy fall dessert.

Ingredients:

4-5 cups sliced pear, 1/4-1/2" thick

1/4 cup brown sugar, divided

1/2 tbsp lemon juice

1/4 cup oats

1/2 tsp ground star anise

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp salt

1 tbsp butter, melted

Preheat oven to 375°F and butter an 8 X 8" square baking dish. Cut pears and sprinkle them with 2 tsps brown sugar and a drizzle of lemon juice. Mix together gently and spoon into prepare dish. Combine the oats, the rest of the brown sugar, star anise, cinnamon and salt in a food processor and pulse a few times. Add the melted butter and pulse until crumbly. Distribute evenly over pears and bake for 30 minutes, a little longer if your pears are very firm. Serve warm with whipped cream, vanilla Greek yogurt, ice cream or just plain warm crumble. Serves 4
