I started this blog so my daughters could find all of our family favourite recipes in one place. It has actually grown into more than just the family favourites but also other recipes we've tried out in our kitchen. I don't like to fill up the post with alot of chatter. Sometimes there's a little story to tell, but usually I like to get right to the point. So this is for them, but hope you find some recipes that you like as well. I'll be sharing a lot of recipes, and along the way you'll find some crafty things and maybe some helpful hints too! Welcome!

Cheesy Baked Gnocchi

Pillowy soft gnocchi baked with ground beef and tomato sauce is my kind of comfort food!

Ingredients:

1 cup cherry tomatoes

1 tbsp olive oil

1 lb (500g pkg) shelf-stable gnocchi

1 lb lean ground beef

salt and pepper to taste

1/2 tsp dry basil

1/2 tsp dry oregano

2 tsps garlic powder

3 cups tomato sauce

3-4 oz mozzarella or cheddar, sliced

2 tbsps Parmesan

First give the tomatoes a little fry in hot oil for 2 minutes just to soften and brown a bit. Set aside. Boil the gnocchi as directed on package then drain and set aside. Preheat oven to 375°F. In an oven safe skillet brown the beef with salt, pepper, basil, oregano and garlic.  Add the tomato sauce on low heat then stir in the gnocchi.  Top with slices of cheese, cherry tomatoes and Parmesan.  Bake at 375° for 20 minutes then broil for 2-3 minutes. Serves 4
